As a lifestyle expert and organizing professional, I love to contribute to Arizona Daily Mix to share tips. Today, I filmed a segment host, Brad Perry, and shared “Four Tips To Help Parents Get Back To The School In The Kitchen. “
It is Back to School season and these tips will keep the transition effortless and stress free for parents. My tip will not only help the parents transition smoothly into the school year, it will help the students make healthy choice, participate, it saves time, and saves money.
Four Tips To Help Parents Get Back To The School In The Kitchen:
- Grocery Management – Following a routine will help parents create system that will offer simple + stress free transitions to back to school in the kitchen.
- First step to keep grocery management effortless is to assess the contents of your pantry and refrigerator before heading to the store. This is the time to edit expired items and remove empty containers and boxes. How many times have you assumed that a box of cereal was full only to learn upon returning from the store it was empty? This is also the time to consider trends, is there a snack that was once popular and now no longer being consumed?
- Take Time to Prep + Store When Unpacking Groceries
- Always set aside 20 minutes upon returning from the store to wash produce, remove items from original packages like boxes, and store properly. The advantage of removing like yogurts from the original box and store in the refrigerator in an organized way is that it provides easy access for family to grab a snack or pack a lunch. Most importantly for parents, it creates a system for inventory management. You know right away with items needs to be replaced.
- How Make Lunches Effortlessly
- When snacks are unpacked and stored in individual snack sized containers, making lunch is a breeze.
- Develop a routine for lunch making to remove the stress in the morning. At my house, we unpack the lunchbox upon returning from school and repack for the next day. This includes grabbing a new water container, filling, + placing in refrigerator. Another great time to pack lunches is during dinner preparation.
- Learn to Love a List
- One of my favorite systems that is easy and creates family involvement is to have a Grocery List easily available. A self adhesive small white board in the pantry is a great solution for all members of the family to update when items needs to be replaced. It can also be a merit point to encourage family members to enjoy the fun. This will help parents empower students to make great decisions, participate, while reducing stress, saving time, and saving money.
