Transforming a Closet into a Chic Workspace Using Tempaper


Do you have a space in your home that is not using its maximum potential?  I did, it was a large closet off of our den.  I realized that I could transform the closet into a stylish and functional workspace.  To accomplish my goal I partnered with Tempaper Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper.  Installing Tempaper Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper was a simple way to enhance a small space, transforming a closet into a chic workspace.

I knew that Tempaper Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper would provide the backdrop I envisioned for a simply chic solution.  This is how I selected the color palette, Step by step video sharing the color palette selection process.

Before 

Before we started the project the closet was used to store a few items that could be reorganized and moved to the garage.  By assessing the space and creating a plan I was able to design a workspace that was chic and functional.  The key was using the Tempaper Self – Adhesive Removable Wallpaper to create a dramatic space, Tempaper Self – Adhesive Removable Wallpaper

This is how I transformed drab to fab!

After I selected the Tempaper Tokyo – Celestial Blue   wallpaper I measured the space to determine the quantity needed.  I recommend that you purchase more than you believe you need to ensure accuracy and continuity.  

Wall Preperation 

For my project I needed to remove existing shelving and make some drywall repairs.  As a result my right hand man, Gilbert, painted the space with semi-gloss paint.  Tempaper recommended that the product be applied to a smooth surface using eggshell, satin or semi-gloss paint.  The fresh white semi-gloss paint complimented  the Tempaper design I selected.

Tools 

I used the following tools to properly install Tempaper Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper:

  1. A straight edge razor
  2. Tape measure
  3. Step Ladder
  4. Squeegee
  5. Pencil

Installation Steps

Measure height and width of the surface. Pre-cut panels before installation and align the pattern.  Begin the application from the top of the surface corner and peel back the first 3 feet.   

 

I recommend using two people for the installation.  Gilbert managed the Tempaper Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper from the top of the surface and I guided the product from the bottom.

 

The Tempaper squeegee we used was ideal to smooth the air pockets, Tempaper squeegee

Once the Tempaper was installed I used a straight edge razor to trim the baseboards.

I love the fact that it is self-adhesive and removable, allowing me to apply to furniture, walls, and home accessories.  I used leftover pieces to accessorize the bookshelves in the adjacent room.

Final Steps

Once the Tempaper Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper was installed, I completed the space by adding floating shelves and a countertop.  The large countertop created a workspace to accommodate two while the shelves create a dramatic decor.  A pendant light fixture is the finishing touch to create a little pizzazz.

Transforming drab to fab to create a workspace out of inefficient closet has been a thrill!  I now have a stylish and functional space to create organized design solutions for my clients and blog.
